Shabazz Palaces - Swerve… The reeping of all that is worthwhile (Noir not withstanding)
Seattle’s Shabazz Palaces (Palaceer Lazaro) make avant-garde hip hop that was unknown to me until Pitchfork mentioned them in their ‘Best New Tracks’ section the other day. And I’m glad they did. At times minimalistic, instrumentally, it still manages to stay the right side of pretentious. This is really interesting stuff.
