Two of the best things to come out of 2011 (SBTRKT & Shabazz Palaces) combine with Drumma Boy for this variant of the original that’s still filling dance floors worldwide.

Preview: Field Day 2011

field day 2011

Victoria Park, East London’s best summer festival is back this Saturday, with another impressive, generally independent, line-up. Tickets are still available, but going fast. Get them here.

In true Field Day style (ie alphabetical order), here are some of the performers Musikal are looking forward to seeing most:

Canada’s Born Ruffians featured on Channel 4’s The Skins, in an advert and had an accomplished indie album in Red, Yellow and Blue. And then *POOF* they disappeared. Interesting to see how they come across live.

Hyperdub’s Darkstar released one of Musikal’s albums of last year in North.

I must admit to be disappointed by Blake’s DJ sets, but when he’s performing his album live, it’s pretty fucking special. Will be interesting to see how that translates over to a big festival setting, though.

Who doesn’t love Four Tet/ Kieran Hebden?

In every fucker’s Top Ten Album’s of last year, London Electronic-Ambient duo Mount Kimbie.

Really looking forward to Souleyman’s live show. He’s been wowing festival’s all around the globe this summer and now it’s East London’s turn.

Here’s a prediction. The electronic underground are going to turn on SBTRKT soon. It all adds up. He’s come from the underground and got commercial success very quickly. Snobs hate that. Fuck that noise, his début is nothing short of brilliant.

What a massive coup this is for Field Day. A truly legendary act, in every sense of the word. Consider Musikal a bright shade of excited.

Twin Shadow’s 2010 album Forget was a wonderful hazy R&B album, still on heavy rotation at Musikal towers.

Willy Mason - another act who disappeared after one strong album. I say album, but it was really just this song. I loved it.

See you all there.
